Our client, a leader in the building materials manufacturing industry, has an immediate need for a seasoned Technical Writer to join their team in a fully remote position.

The Technical Writer/Project Manager will be responsible for creating, organizing, and maintaining clear and accurate documentation related to the production process, equipment, safety protocols, and other technical aspects of the company's operations. The successful candidate will capture existing knowledge from engineering departments and translate them into standardized documents. These documents could include:

  • data sheets
  • manuals
  • standard operating procedures(SOPs)
  • standards
  • specifications
  • drawings

This information will be located across multiple physical locations, servers, and team members, requiring the successful candidate to be able to access this information efficiently and effectively.

 This position is fully remote and may require some travel to production facilities as well as to the corporate offices in Chicago, IL. Travel is typically less than 5% of the time. This position is mainly a first shift position that will need to be available during standard business hours in Central Standard Time (CST) which are typically 8am to 4pm (CST).

3 Must haves for the position:

  • 10 to 15 years experience in technical writing in a manufacturing or production environment
  • High level of independence - the successful cadidate must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Great interpersonal skills
